Sophon DevStudio
The IDE for building on Sophon.
A desktop application for authoring skills, agents, plugins, and apps — editor, visual designers, test runner, packaging, and a terminal in one place. It targets Sophon the way Visual Studio targets .NET: its own product, its own release cadence, talking to the platform only through versioned contracts.
What you build
Four project types, scaffolded.
Start from a wizard rather than from a blank folder and a specification you have to go find.
Skill
Python or C# tools an agent can call. Scaffolds the manifest with its permissions block, an entrypoint, and a real test that imports and runs it.
Agent
A personality and its configuration — agent.json alongside SOUL.md, BOOT.md, and HEARTBEAT.md.
Plugin
Extends the core over gRPC: channels, model providers, vault backends. Pick the interface and it scaffolds the class and project file.
App
A mini-application that runs inside the Sophon Dashboard, built against the app SDK.

Everything authoring needs, in one window.
A real editor, not a form
Monaco with syntax highlighting, multi-file tabs, and a file explorer — the same editor core as VS Code.
Designers for the formats
The manifest, the SOUL personality, and agent templates each get a visual editor, so you are not hand-writing JSON to discover a schema.
Run the tests where you wrote them
A local runner shells out to pytest or dotnet test, and validation checks the manifest before you package anything.
Package builder
Turns a project into an installable bundle, with a credential-consistency check against the permissions you declared.
Embedded terminal
A real shell in the workspace, so the CLI is always a keystroke away.
An assistant that knows the formats
A multi-provider AI assistant sits in the IDE, scoped to what you are building.
Where it actually is
Early access means early.
DevStudio was built in one substantial sprint, then sat still while the platform moved. Here is the gap, in our words, before you decide whether to wait for it.
There are no signed installers yet. Shipping them for Windows, macOS, and Linux is a tracked milestone, not a finished one.
The editor, the visual designers, and the packaging pipeline are real and working. Several integration points with the platform are not yet wired up.
DevStudio currently implements scaffold, validate, and build itself. Moving those onto the CLI, so the IDE orchestrates the platform toolchain rather than shadowing it, is the next milestone.
The App project type scaffolds config, a test harness, and a directory layout — but no web app shell yet.
A separately versioned app SDK
Dashboard apps talk to Sophon through a postMessage SDK that versions and releases on its own line, so an app you build today keeps working when DevStudio moves.
